MSM (Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane) (capsules)
COMPOSITION:
Each daily dose (3 capsules) contains the following as active ingredients:
• Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane............2100mg
• Buffered Vitamin C.......................60mg
Inactive ingredients: Hypromellose (cellulose) vegetarian capsule shell (gelatin free), microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate (vegetarian - flow agent), magnesium silicate, silicon dioxide and colloidal silicon dioxide.
Contains no colourants, preservatives, lactose, gluten, yeast, starch or artificial fillers. Contains plant extracts and natural fillers, with no colourants added - therefore the colour of the capsule contents may vary slightly from batch to batch.
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
MSM is an odourless metabolite of dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO). MSM is a source of sulfur for the amino acids cysteine and methionine. Incorporation of MSM derived sulfur into methionine is regulated by a limiting step involving micro-organisms in the intestinal lumen. MSM is primarily used for osteoarthritis. Preliminary research suggests MSM might inhibit degenerative changes in joints in animal models of osteoarthritis. MSM is also being studied for allergic rhinitis where it seems to significantly inhibit the release of nitric acid and prostaglandin E2 by alleviating the expression of inductible nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase-2. Researchers suspect that MSM might have anti-inflammatory activities.
MSM is also a source of sulphur in the body which is beneficial in treating acne and for hair and nail growth. The therapeutic effects of MSM is enhanced by vitamin C which works synergistically in boosting collagen and joint tissue.
INDICATIONS:
MSM has been shown to be beneficial in the following conditions:
• Aids in the treatment of osteoarthritis
• Acts as an anti-inflammatory and pain killer in the joint tissue
• Helps relieve seasonal allergies
• Improves skin, hair and nail condition
• Boosts skin-collagen, thereby slowing wrinkle formation
• Helps to reduce acne
• Improves the immune system
• Reduces glycation, an age accelerating metabolic process that occurs in the body (especially prevalent in high sugar diets)
CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
There are no known contra-indications.

INTERACTIONS:
There are no known interactions.
PREGNANCY AND BREAST-FEEDING:
Safety in pregnancy and breast-feeding has not been established, do not use.
DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Adults and children over 12 years of age: Take 1 capsule three times daily, or as recommended by your healthcare provider. This dosage can be increased up to 2 capsules 3 times daily if needed.
Children 7-12 years of age: Take 1 capsule twice daily.
SIDE EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
Side effects:
Side effects are rare but there have been reports of nausea, diarrhoea, bloating, headache, fatigue and difficulty concentrating. MSM may cause skin rash and increased allergy symptoms in some people.
KNOWN SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSAGE AND PARTICULARS OF ITS TREATMENT:
Treatment should be symptomatic and supportive.
In the case of accidental overdose of the product, contact the nearest hospital or poison control centre.
