Product Information Pregnenolone is an endogenous Steroid Hormone (also described as a Neurosteroid or Steroid Neurohormone) also manufactured synthetically and supplemented (Hormone Replacement Therapy) as a Smart Drug/Nutrient. PROPRIETARY NAME (and dosage form): Pregnenolone (tablets) COMPOSITION: Each tablet contains the following as active ingredient: Pregnenolone................................................30mg PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION: Pregnenolone is synthesised in the body from cholestrol and is the precursor of all the steroid hormones including progesterone, cortisol, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), testosterone and estrogens. INDICATIONS: Pregnenolone is the precursor of the adrenal hormones including DHEA, cortisol, aldosterone and the sex hormones, estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. Pregnenolone supports adrenal function and helps improve memory and stress coping ability. CONTRA-INDICATIONS: Hormone sensitive cancers and conditions: As pregnenolone can be converted to estrogens, people suffering with hormone sensitive conditions should avoid pregnenolone. Some of these conditions include breast cancer, uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate, endometriosis and uterine fibroids. WARNINGS: Do not exceed recommended dosages unless on the advice of a health care provider. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. If you are on any medication or suffering from any medical condition, it is advisable to seek medical advice before starting any new medicine, supplement or remedy. Safety in children has not been established. INTERACTIONS: DHEA: Pregnenolone can enhance the effects of steroid hormone drugs including DHEA. Estrogens: Pregnenolone can enhance the effects of estrogens. Progesterone: Pregnenolone can enhance the effects of progesterone. Testosterone: Pregnenolone can enhance the effects of testosterone. PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING: Not safe for use while pregnant and breastfeeding. DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Adults and persons over 18 years of age: Take 1-3 tablets in the morning, with breakfast, or as recommended by your health care provider. Can be taken sublingually (dissolved under the tongue). Not for use in persons under 18, unless under the supervision of a medical practitioner. SIDE EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS: Side effects: Pregnenolone is generally well tolerated, but may cause side effects associated with other hormones as pregnenolone is a precursor of other hormones in the body. Potential side effects may include insomnia, irritability, menstrual changes, acne, headache, facial hair growth and anxiety.
