Contains no colourants, preservatives, lactose, gluten, yeast, starch or artificial fillers. Contains plant extracts and natural fillers, with no colourants added - therefore the colour of the capsule contents may vary slightly from batch to batch. PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION: EDTA is a complex molecule with a claw like structure, which binds and seizes divalent and trivalent metal ions such as calcium and aluminum to form a stable ring structure. EDTA binds and chelates metal ions in the following decreasing order: chromium, iron, mercury, copper, aluminum, nickel, zinc, calcium, cobalt, iron, manganese, calcium, and magnesium. Chelation therapy using disodium EDTA has been purported by many as being efficacious in the treatment of many disease conditions, including atherosclerosis. DMSA is a dithiol (containing two sulfhydral groups) and an analogue of dimercaprol, a lipid-soluble compound used for metal chelation. DMSA is used to chelate the following metals: lead, mercury, cadmium and arsenic. Research shows that malic acid is effective in increasing the urinary excretion of heavy metals. N-Acetyl Cysteine is a precursor of glutathione, which is a potent anti-oxidant which protects against damage caused by toxic chemicals. Glutamine plays an important role in liver metabolism and detoxification. Preliminary evidence indicates that garlic might interfere with the oral absorption of lead, the sulphur containing amino acids might chelate lead in the gastrointestinal tract. INDICATIONS: Oral EDTA is a chelation formula that removes heavy metals and detoxifies the cardiovascular system. CONTRAINDICATIONS: There are no known contraindications. WARNINGS: Do not exceed recommended dosages unless on the advice of a health care provider. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. If you are on any medication or suffering from any medical condition, it is advisable to seek medical advice before starting any new medicine, supplement or remedy. Safety in children has not been established. INTERACTIONS: Diuretic medicines: EDTA can decrease serum potassium levels and increase excretion of potassium. There is some concern that some individuals receiving EDTA along with potassium depleting diuretics might be at an increased risk for hypokalemia. Insulin: Concomitant use of EDTA with insulin can cause decrease in blood glucose concentrations. EDTA chelates zinc in insulin products and might interfere with the designed onset and duration of activity of various insulin preparations. Warfarin: There is some concern the EDTA can decrease the anticoagulant effects of warfarin. EDTA has been reported to decrease international normalised ratio (INR) in individuals taking warfarin. Garlic may increase the INR. Use Oral EDTA with caution in individuals taking warfarin. Contraceptive medicines: The effects of garlic on the metabolism of contraceptive medicines may vary. Until more is known women taking contraceptive medicines should use additional or alternative forms of birth control. Isoniazid: Research suggests that garlic can significantly reduce isoniazid levels. Anticonvulsants: Theoretically, glutamine which is metabolised to the excitatory neurotransmitter glutamate, might antagonise the anticonvulsant effects of medication taken for epilepsy. Lactulose: Theoretically, glutamine might antagonise the anti-ammonia effects of lactulose. Glutamine is metabolised to ammonia. PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING: Not to be taken by pregnant and breastfeeding women. DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Adults and children over 12 years of age: Take 5 capsules simultaneously, every second day only, 2 hours or more after a meal or 1 hour before a meal. Repeat this, alternating one day on, one day off, for 23 days of the month. THEN TAKE A BREAK FROM THE PRODUCT FOR THE REST OF THE MONTH. Repeat cycle as often as required to reduce heavy metal levels, or as advised by your health care provider. SIDE EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS: Side effects: May cause abdominal cramps, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache and hypotension.
